The two decades beginning from 1928 were the most significant phase of the freedom movement in India where Indian National Congress planned and engineered efforts for the independence of the country and also to bring communal harmony within the territorial limits of the country. It is commendable that it succeeded in achieving independence from the British rule but failed in establishing communal harmony and as a consequence the country stood partitioned. The failure of the Congress in this respect needs a through probe. \nSome of the vexed question which are being analysed here are: Why did the Congress fail to achieve communal harmony in India? What was the crucial turning point which led to the establishment of Pakistan? The present book gives a critical analysis of the relations between the Congress and the Muslims and their impact on the freedom movement and final shape of events leading to the partition in the sub-continent.
