The book Introduction to palaeobotany provides an authoritative review account of many aspects of Palaeobotany and current progress in the field of botany that has been made in the recent past. Plants have been in existence on land and sea for several Millennia and have contributed much to the formation of coal lignite and oil. It will offer greater scope to the earth scientists and palaeobotanists for deciphering the age of the strata and the environment they lived in. The entire book is arranged in eleven chapters commencing from introduction to palaeobotany. The earliest organic life to the more advanced forms of the angiosperms to make the book more comprehensive and understandable. Further several line drawings of individual fossils with brief descriptions are provided. During the last five decades new discoveries of plant fossils have been made from different sedimentary terrains. It became imperative to include all the research work carried out by research scholars to make the book more up to date. The origin and evolution of plants commencing from Precambrian to tertiary has been included. This text book gives an insight to plant fossils. It is sincerely hoped that this book will be useful to graduate and post graduate students of all universities.
