Recent interest in the study of agrarian power structure and the change within it stems out the far-reaching influence on the patterns of economic development, emergence of new groups in power structure and social chage in India. A decisive break from the colonial and semi-feudal past is being witnessed in these areas as leading to the changes in economic motivation, a hightened political consciousness, and an increased social awareness.
