This magnificent and substantial volume on the facets of Indian culture enshrined in the Sanskrit Language comprises mostly of papers presented at the three day International Conference held in the month of January 1997. Papers were presented by both foreign and Indian scholars of repute who have already proven their worth in the different fields. With the active participation of scholars form Brazil, Poland, France, Germany, Canada Australia, UK and Usa and Professors and researchers from different Indian Universities of Bombay, Delhi, Banglore, Madras, Gujarat, Varanasi etc., the conference proved to be an intellectual feast to the students of Indology. Nearly sixty papers were presented and discussed in various sessions and those shed much new light on the various problems in Technical and Scientific Texts in the fiels of Indological studies.

There are many illuminating papers in the present volume and these are arranged under the sections such as Vedic literature, Philosophy, Literary criticism, Technical literature, Performing Arts and Classical Sanskrit. The seventh and final section is devoted to assess the achievements of two great Keralite scholars, viz., De.C.Kunhan Raja and Dr. K.Kunjunni Raja.The first part of the section forms a commemoration ot the departed savant while the second part is conceived as a felicitation to Kunjunni Raja who has completed seventyfive years of fruitful activities.
