Agriculture is the back bone of Indian economy. It provides significant support for economic growth and development of the country. India is a world's largest agrarian economy. Now only 52 per cent of workforce is engaged in agriculture sector. It is also seen that the investment in agriculture sector is recording increasing trends. In this era of globalization, liberalization and privatization the significance of agri-business management and rural development has been well recognized and the investment in these sectors has been increasing regularly by the big business houses and the Government. As a result of this employment opportunities in rural areas are increasing and workforce migration to urban areas is also declining.
