The present book "Save Environment" is an effort to remind that it is the duty of every citizen to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life as stated in the constitution of India. Healthy environment is must for healthy growth. Our poets, philosophers and saints have always emphasized that human beings can find happiness only by living in harmony with nature. But, with the leaps that science has taken in the modern times, and coupled with man's greed for power, prosperity and prestige, man has caused untold damage to the environment. The damage that has been done to the ecosystems and biological diversity is impossible to assess and to reverse. Reference to the environment has also been made in the directive principles of state policy as well as the fundamental rights.
Although world has woken up to the magnitude of the environmental problems and various organizations have taken initiative to bring all countries under a common forum to find solutions during various conferences through pacts and protocols. Still emphasis should be on rational consumption so that we leave a healthy and joyful life for our future generation.
Due to the exponential growth of the subject, it is beyond my capability to keep track of the ever growing advancement in this field.
