The two volumes on 'Glimpses of Northern Region : People, Culture, Religion and Economy ' have been weaved into various phases of the subject as mentioned in the text. They contain eight and nine chapters respectively and have been dealt with in a comprehensive manner.
The volume I deals with pilgrims' progress, the Kumaon region, Almora district, Chamodli region, Garhwal area, Nainital district, Pithoragarh region and Uttarkashi district. In fact efforts have been made to take up various phases of the regions.
The volume II containing nine chapters deal with various phases. It gives a comprehensive glimpse of the Himalayan region, the political demand, the pre-historic period, implications of British rule, land and the people of Kumaon, caste and religion including Kshatriyas and Rajputs and last but not the least social customs dealing with the way of life of the region. |
