This book deals with an emerging area of Sociology of Science in India. There is a reciprocal relationship between science and society. However, social scientists have paid asymmetrical attention to this relationship i.e. the impact of science on society has been dealt by many but the impact of society of science by very few scholars. This book has explored the impact of society on the public institutions of science from a sociological perspective. In our day to life, we are using many scientific concepts and products but are very little aware about the people whose hard labour and perceptive mind have made all those things possible for us. The book provides a fascinating reading for understanding internal structure of science, community life of scientists and their cultural orientation.
