 DESCRIPTION
spacer
An attempt has been made in this book to highlight the role of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, popularly known as the share-a-Punjab (The lion of Punjab) in the northindian politics from 1798-1839. Maharaja Ranjit Singh stands out as a solitary figure in the beginning of nineteenth century who could establish a large kingdom inthe face of the expanding British empire. He was as adept in the diplomacy as he was in war and he used the both to good effect in creating and maintaining a viable state. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was no doubt a far sighted statesman of immense political acumen.
