Government of India, a need to make an indepth Study of the History of Gaya district from 1858 to 1912. We cannot analyse the interplay of various Forces and factors in the district with the help of activities of certain charismatic personalities. For this Purpose it is necessary to analyse the forces and factors reacting against each other very objectively. And in doing so the use of an appropriate Methodology is necessary. Since the history of the district under study is multi-dimensional, multi-dimensional approach is required to probe it.
The present study is based mainly on primary sources like government of India and Bihar Home (Special) Political files, Bihar and Orissa Reports, Educational Reports of Bengal, Survey and Settlement Reports, District Gazetteers, Memoirs and Reports of certain individuals, Census Reports, besides secondary sources like books, Newspapers and journals available in various archives and libraries. |
