CONTENTS:- Molecular spectroscopy and electromagnetic spectrum; Infrared spectroscopy; Ultraviolet spectroscopy; Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; Mass spectrometry; Composite spectral problems.
DESCRIPTION
The rapid development in spectroscopic techniques, during the last two decades, has revolutionized the approach to organic structure determination. Topic pertaining to molecular spectroscopy such as IR, UV, NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry are increasingly being introduced at the undergraduate level in most of hte universities. This book has been written primarily to stimulate interest of students in molecular spectroscopy and to introduce these four major spectroscopic techniques used for the identification of organic compounds. The treatment of each technique commences with a brief introduction followed by basic theory, instrumentation, basic concepts and applications. Special attention has been paid on the basic concepts and interpretiton of various types of spectra of unknown compounds with reference to their structure.
