DESCRIPTION
Teaching science in class rooms is a very interesting exercise. Traditionally, the relation of teacher to student has been as the kikuyu boy described it-the teacher asks, and the student answers. Aschner calls teachers professional question askers. They may ask 2.000 questions or more a week. In modern elementary science programmes, where students are supposed to be getting practice at inquiry, a study of 300 tape recording indicated that students actually ask very few questions. This has to be improved.
