INTRODUCTION:- Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa (rig 'dzin 'jigs med gling pa, 1729-1798) is considered to be an emanation of the great pandit Vimalamitra, of King Trisong Desten (khri srong lde bstan, 790-844), of Longchen Rabjam (klong chen rab 'byams, 1308-1363), of Ngari Panchen Pema Wangyal (mnga' ris panchen padma dbang rgyal, 1487-1542), and of many other sages. He was the immediate reembodiment of Choje Lingpa (chos rje gling pa), also known as Orgyen Rogje Lingpa (O rgyan rog rje gling pa, 1682-1725). In his childhood he had many visions of past saints. At the age of six, he entered the monastery of Palgi Riwo (dpal gi ri bo), the "Glorious Mountain", in Lhoka, where he received the name of Pema Khyentse Oser, "Lotus Glowing with Wisdom and Love". At the age of thirteen, he met his root teacher, Rigdzin Thukchog Dorje (rig 'dzin thugs mchog rdo rje), who gave him the main Nyingmapa teachings. Through his inner realization, Jigme Lingpa effortlessly mastered the whole corpus of the Buddha's doctrine. At the age of twenty-eight he did a three-year retreat, during which, in a vision, he was blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, who named him Pema Wangchen (padma dbang chen), "Lotus of Great Power". Other profound visions revealed to him the mind treasure (dgons gter) of the Longchen Nyingthig (klong chen snying thig), which soon became one of the most widely practiced cycles of the Nyingma tradition. We are pleased to present here a five-volume collection of texts which comprises the three volumes Jigme Lingpa's revealation, supplemented with two volumes of texts written by masters of his spiritual lineage: the first Do Drupchen, Jigme Trinley Oser (rdo grub chen 'jigs med phren las 'od zer, 1745-1821); Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo ('jam dbyangs mkhyen brtse'i dbang po, 1820-1926); Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Tashi Paljor (bkra shis dpal 'byor, 1910-1991), and others masters. The additional material include texts for the liturgy ('don cha), for bestowing empowerments (dbang), and explanations (khrid yig) on most of the Sadhanas of the Longchen Nyingthig cycle.
