DESCRIPTION
Advaita-siddhi happens to be the last great work in the tradition of Advaita dialectic. It marks the culmination of the dialectical skill of the great Indian thinkers in general and the Advaitins in particular. Though primarily it aims at refuting the arguments of Nyayamrta of Vyasatirtha, the champion of dualists, its dialectic can equally be applied against all the opponents of Advaita. It contains the profundity of the great Advaita classic like Panca-Padika-vivarana, Pancadasi etc. as well as the logical subtlety of the most prominent dialectical works like khandana, Citsukhi etc. Though primarily it is a polemical work whose main intention is to prove the absurdity of the positions that oppose Advaita schools is the greatest achievement of Advaitasiddhi. Since Advaita can only be established by proving the falsity of duality, it employs long dialectic to disprove the reality of the world upheld by the non-Advaitins. In depth of meaning, this work is just like an ocean and in height of dialectical skill, it is to be likened to the Himalayas. About the author the commentator Brahmananda, says that the depth of Madhusudana Sarsavati is only known by Sarasvati (the goddess of learning) and Sarasvati is only known by Madhusudana Sarasvati.
